Fifty-four Presbyterian catechists consecrated at Asante-Mampong

Mampong (Ash), Dec. 30, GNA - Fifty-Four catechists of the Sekyere Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana have been consecrated at Asante-Mampong.

Made up of six females and 48 males, they successfully underwent a five-year Modula course at the Abetifi Ramseyer Training Centre. The Right Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator, performed the ceremony at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. It was under the theme: "How to Grow in Wisdom and Favour with God". Rt. Rev Dr Frimpong-Manso praised the early missionaries, who left t= he

comfort of their homes to bring hope, education, health, truth and social development to the people in the country.

He urged the catechists to be inspired by this and work hard to grow the Church.

The moderator urged them to provide the needed leadership by taking right decisions and make good judgment. He appealed to the spouses and family members to stand solidly behin= d the catechists as they spread the gospel to win more souls for Christ. Mr Daniel Edmond Kofi Asante, on behalf of the catechists, appealed for periodic refresher courses for them and to give opportunity to catechists interested in the Special Ministerial Training (SMT) to become pastors.
