New Juaben Municipality to establish a Chamber of Commerce

Koforidua, Nov. 24, GNA - An eleven-member committee of businessmen and eminent citizens of the New Juaben Traditional Area with support from the New Juaben Municipal Assembly, have resolved to come out with modalities for the establishment of a New Juaben Chamber of Commerce. Dr Victor Berko Boateng, a citizen of New Juaben resident in the United States of America (USA), observed that there had been a lot of successful business enterprises in the New Juaben Municipal area. However, he said for those businesses to continue to grow and expand, there was the need for the creation of one stop shop where an investor on arrival in the municipality, could go and get the necessary information of all business opportunities in the area.

Dr Berko explained that such an idea could be implemented by the establishment of a Chamber of Commerce that could help promote business among the various business establishments and help members to establish linkages with other businesses outside the area.

Mrs Cynthia Oswald, President of Livingston County Chamber of Commerce, explained that her office provided a forum for members of the business community in her county to meet and share ideas.

She said the office also provided the platform for businessmen and women to support each other to grow their business. Mrs Oswald said a Memorandum of Understanding had been signed by the New Juaben Municipal Assembly, the New Juaben Traditional Council and the City of Rochester in the USA for the establishment of a sister city relationship.

She said one of the areas of cooperation between the people of Rochester and those in New Juaben was business and that the establishment of a Chamber of Commerce could help in the promotion of business co-operation between the two cities. 24 Nov. 09
