iBurst Africa and Police to Fight Cyber Crime

Accra, Nov. 16, GNA - iBurst Africa has donated 10 modems and "connect & go!" traffic vouchers for use by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, as its corporate strategy and commitment to fight cyber crime.

According to iBurst cyber crime seemed to be on the rise in Ghana. The CID and iBurst Africa will also unveil a groundbreaking concept of a regular column on the iBurst Africa website - www.iburstafrica.com - for the dissemination of information, which will assist individuals and organisations who use the internet on a regular basis to protect their identity as well as electronic records.

The column would also serve as a forum for the announcement of data, which arises from developments in the proactive stance by the Police towards reducing the high levels of cyber fraud.

In addition, iBurst Africa will arrange periodic interaction of CID officials with existing and potential customers about issues pertaining to cyber crime and related matters.

The commitment was made at a meeting of the Management of iBurst Africa with personnel of the Public Relations Department of the Police. At the meeting, the police expressed interest to collaborate with iBurst to enable the law enforcement body to effectively deal with cyber crime, which it identified as counter-productive and has the potential to negatively affect all aspects of the Ghanaian society.

A statement issued by iBurst Africa said the gesture was the company's unflinching quest to ensure that Ghana and indeed the majority of Ghanaians do not only benefit from the numerous opportunities available with the usage of the internet but to contribute in guaranteeing the security of all users who may be vulnerable to the activities of criminals.

This commitment has been demonstrated over the years through iBurst Africa's regular development of innovative products and services to help customers attain maximum security and satisfaction.

Notable among such innovations are the iShield and iSpeed- two innovative technologies which are part of the suite of products and services introduced by the company since its launch in Ghana last year.

According to Tony Dadzie, Chief Executive Officer of iBurst Africa, "As we indicated previously, the fight against cyber fraud needs to be a multi-stakeholder approach. This gesture is simply a demonstration by iBurst Africa of a practical and effective way of liaising with the Ghana Police Service to ensure that they have the requisite resources to play a proactive role in this critical endeavour".
