Govt would expand telecommunication to cover all - Aidoo

Takoradi, Nov 3, GNA - Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, has reiterated the government's commitment to expand telecommunication infrastructure to make information and data accessible to every Ghanaian. He explained that the government considered the mobile telephone industry as the bedrock in ensuring improved service delivery that would culminate into the nation's total development.

Mr Aidoo was speaking at the launch of MTN's 3.5G technology for the Western and Central regions at Takoradi.

He said: "Knowledge transfer via data and video conferences will be enhanced to improve learning within the region." Mr Aidoo commended MTN for living up to their corporate social responsibility in addition to creating employment avenues for the population.

Mr George Andah, Chief Marketing Officer, MTN, said Accra, Kumasi and Tema had already been hooked onto the system adding that the MTN would roll out in all major cities.

According to him, MTN's 3.5G technology would allow subscribers to have greater transmission speed of existing services such as voice, data and text adding that corporate customers could also enjoy data download.
