Two die in accident near Half Assini

Half Assini (W/R) Sept. 6 GNA-Two persons were pronounced dead on arrival at the Half Assini government hospital on Saturday following injuries they sustained in a road accident.

The two; Samuel Kaku, from Basake, the 'mate' of the vehicle and Mr Kaku Ackah, from New Kabenlasuazo, a passenger, were travelling on an Urvan bus from the Jewi wharf border market to Aiyinase when the accident occured at New Edobo near Half Assini.

Five persons including the driver of the vehicle, Mr Joseph Eliason, who were injured, are responding to treatment the same hospital.

The rest are Fustina Abuah and Cynthia Baidoo from Aiyinase, Avo Ackah Tanoe from Awiebo and Anthony Cudjoe, whose hometown was not immediately known.

According to the Half Assini Police, the driver claimed that he burst a back tyre while the vehicle was in motion. He said a female passenger who sat on the front seat held him as well as the steering wheel when she sensed danger. As a result, the driver became helpless thus could not control the vehicle which later somersaulted three times before plunging into a ditch.

The police said the bodies have been deposited at the Government hospital mortuary at Half Assini while investigation continues.
