Students urged to change their sexual lives

Ho, Aug. 1, GNA - Sexually active students in second cycle institutions have been urged to be remorseful and change their sex lives since behavioural change was necessary to avoid HIV/AIDS. Mr Samuel Atidzah, Executive Director of GOSANET Foundation, a Ho based Non Governmental Organization (NGO), who advised the students, said sex education, personal development and respect were crucial to preventing the deadly disease.

Speaking at a forum organised by the organization for about 100 Senior High School students from the Ho Municipality, he said, peer pressure also accounts for the spread of the disease. He said increased urbanization has brought untold economic hardships, social pressures and breakdown of traditional structures making people especially the youth, becoming more vulnerable to HIV/AIDS.

The forum under the t heme, "You can make a difference," was to enable participants to acquire skills and become agents in the education and fight against the disease. Mr Atidzah called for collaboration between NGOs and religious bodies to intensify education on HIV/AIDS menace, which he said was spreading fast. He told participants that though morality was at its lowest ebb among the youth, a lot of difference could be made when all join in the fight against the deadly virus. 1 Aug. 09
