Man in Court for Insulting Traditional Queen.

Hohoe, June 26, GNA - Knox Agbozo, a 36-year-old habitual drunkard is in Police grips for insulting the Queen of Teteman, Nana Elizabeth Keklemsiwaa I, as "foolish Queen".

Briefing the Ghana News Agency, Police Inspector Kofi Appiah-Ntori, officer in-charge of the Gbi-Bla police division, said sometime in November 2008, Agbozo had rendered an apology through his father after allegedly insulting the Queen when she found suspect defecating in an open gutter behind her house.

He said the Queen noticing that the town folk persistently used the gutter behind her house as a place of convenience, caused a gong-gong beater to announce to the public to desist from the act on May 11 this year.

The police Inspector added that Nana Keklemsiwaa met suspect later that same day in town, who queried her why the gong-gong was being beaten and that if she "insisted that they refrain from the act, she should as well be ready to offer her mouth as an alternative".

He said Agbozo added that the Queen made her food available after cooking so that they could "shit on top before she ate".

Inspector Appiah-Ntori said this infuriated Nana Keklemsiwaa, who reported the case to the Police, leading to the arrest of suspect. Agbozo denied the offence in his caution statement to the Police but was found culpable after investigations and consequently charged. He would be prosecuted soon on the charge of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace, the police inspector declared. 26 June 09
