MTN donates to Teshie Orphanage

Accra, June 1, GNA - The MTN Ghana Foundation on Monday donated items worth GHc 1000 to Teshie Orphanage, as part of its 21 days of Y'ello Care Programme.

The items include boxes of key soap, gallons of oil, cartons of soft drinks, bags of rice, boxes of mineral water and MTN souvenirs. The donation was to mark the commencement of the third edition of the 21 days of Y'ello care programme. This year's programme, which starts from June 1 to June 21 on the theme: "Enriching our Communities, Leaving a Sustainable Legacy," would have a broader scope of projects in communities across the country. Senior management and staff of MTN would work on various projects identified by the employees in various regions, based on the needs of the communities in partnership with the people, partners, donors and other valued stakeholders.

Mr Franklin Manu, Board Chairman of the M TN Ghana Foundation, said the communications network would continue to express its commitment to partner with stakeholders to provide the necessary support to help improve the quality of life of communities. Activities slated for the programme, include interaction with orphans, painting of selected schools, hospitals, zebra crossings, pitch enhancements, filling of potholes, career guidance and counselling programmes, tree planting, malaria prevention campaign and blood donation.

Mr. Brett Goschen, Chief Executive Officer of MTN' expressed the commitment of the company, to give back to society what it has contributed to their success story. Mr. Goschen said the activities slated would be carried out simultaneously in Greater Accra, Western, Ashanti Regions and certain parts of Koforidua. Mrs. Janet Anyeley Parker, CEO of the orphanage thanked the Foundation for the gesture and appealed for more assistance to help run the home. The MTN Ghana Foundation was established by the MTN Group Board as a vehicle to effectively administer MTN's corporate social responsibility contributions.
