Akufo-Addo Runs For Cover

…As Family of Murdered NADMO Boss Chases Him

The defeated presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the last elections, Nana Akufo-Addo, had the shock of his life when he was chased away from the funeral grounds by the family of the late Seth Michael Ahyiah, who was killed by his macho bodyguards in the heat of the electioneering campaign.

Nana Addo had gone to the house of the deceased, Eastern Regional National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Boss, to take part in activities marking the first week of his death on Thursday, May 14, 2009, in line with Akan tradition.

As reported by The Daily Democrat, Mr. Seth Michael Ahyiah died on Monday May 11 this year, following the beatings he received in the hands of bodyguards of Nana Akufo-Addo, under the ‘command’ of the ‘born loser’ during a mini rally at the Upper Manya constituency. After several attempts to restore his health, Mr. Ahyiah died on Monday at the Saviour Hospital at Old Tafo in the Eastern Region.

He (Akufo-Addo) stormed Koforidua – Effiduase, a suburb of the New Juaben constituency where the one-week celebration was taking place and was surprisingly chased away from the funeral grounds by some family members.

He had alighted from his car at about 10:00am, dressed in black traditional cloth with smiles all over his face, ready to receive cheers from NPP fanatics and sympathizers but was taken aback when some family members of the late NADMO Boss started shouting at him “go-away, go-away we don’t want you here at the funeral grounds.”

He quickly doubled his steps to take cover and finally had to be rescued by some NPP Party Executives to the residence of the New Juaben South Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Okyere who stays at Kenkey factory also a suburb of Koforidua.

However, in another development, the former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, who also took part in the ceremony with other dignitaries to sympathize with the bereaved family, received an overwhelming welcome from the family members and other sympathizers. The burial is scheduled for the 31st of July, 2009.
