Australian company to organise permaculture course

Techiman (B/A), May 27, GNA - An Australian company, International Permaculture Services, is to organise a two-week international training course in Techiman to educate people on the need to sustain the environment. The course slated for August 10 to 22 will cover climate conditions, soils, strategies for rural and urban development, dry lands, trees and their energy transactions, waste management, legal strategies and trust as well as right livelihood and ethical investments.

Mr. Paul Yeboah, permaculture consultant and course coordinator, told the GNA that Mr. Greg Kribbs, an accredited permaculture practitioner and founder of the company, would be the facilitator. He said 30 foreign nationals were expected to attend the programme. Mr Yeboah said permaculture is a design system for creating sustainable human environment so that plants, animals, the nutrient and weather cycles would be properly examined and incorporated into a productive and functional system without any form of destruction by mankind. "Permaculture is also aimed at creating stable productive systems that would provide for human needs and harmoniously integrate the land with them for the use of today and future", Mr. Yeboah said. He said Ghana Permaculture Network, an organised permaculture student group, had established some local permaculture sites with the intention of encouraging the people to adopt and practice the system.
