Orphans take part in a grand feast at Manhyia Palace

Kumasi, May 6, GNA - About 700 children from orphanages in the Ashanti Region were feted at the Manhyia Palace on Tuesday under the auspices of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu and his wife, Lady Julia.

Orphans who took part in the celebration came from the Kumasi Children's Home, Mampong Babies Home, Single Parents Foundation, King Jesus Charity Home, Kweneboakodua Akyerema and Westphalian Charity Home. The feast, which was characterised by choreography display, games and other activities, was meant to involve the children in the 10th anniversary celebration of Otumfuo's enstoolment. The children also enjoyed various dishes with Indomie Noodles being the main dish donated by Indomie Company.

They were presented with Indomie products and stationery to help them in their studies.

Lady Julia commended the managers of the orphanages for their selfless attitude and urged them to take good care of the children. "We cannot leave them out in the 10th anniversary celebration", she said.

She also expressed gratitude to Indomie Company and Golden Tulip for their contribution in making the occasion possible. Madam Mabel Asafo Agyei, Manager of Mampong Babies Home, thanked Otumfuo and his wife for involving the children in the anniversary celebration and appealed for more of such programmes for the children.
