Ghana Telecom University holds career fair

Accra, April 23, GNA - The Ghana Telecom University College (GTUC) on Friday organized a career fair aimed at exposing the students to internship opportunities.

The fair which attracted 10 organizations such as Vodafone Ghana, Rising Data Solution, Persol Systems Limited, Unibank, IPMC and Metropolitan Insurance also afforded the organizations an opportunity to explain to the students their modes of operation. Dr. Osei Darkwa, President of the GTUC, noted that the university was poised to provide quality and cutting edge training to its students to equip them adequately to excel in all their endeavours.

"We are not oblivious of the competition in today's occupational environment and have positioned ourselves to provide our students with the needed skills and knowledge that will let them succeed," he explained.

He appealed to industries and academia to occasionally come together to assess the skills needed by the industry so that academic institutions could adjust their training to meet their needs. Dr Harriet Somuah, Chief Executive Officer of Somuah Information System Company, called on the students to take their academic lives seriously since there were a lot of opportunities for them on the job market.

"Almost all aspects of our lives revolve around technology and if

you will be hardworking and disciplined, you will go places." Mr Isaac Abraham, representative of Vodafone, which was the

main sponsor, expressed his outfit's interest in partnering the

university in its quest for success and pledged the unflinching

support of Vodafone to the university.
