Presbyterian Church to put up a guest house

Accra, April 20, GNA - The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) is to put up a GH¢ 12,000.00 guest house to serve the hospitality needs of members and the public. The 30-room guest house to be situated at Osu would have dinning halls, offices, conference rooms and a parking lot, among other facilities to enhance the growth and development of the tourism industry.

The Right Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator, cutting the sod for the commencement of the project said the development of the hospitality industry should be a shared responsibility, adding that, "the development of the industry is indeed not the responsibility of government alone".

Drawing a Biblical analogy, Rev Dr Frimpong-Manso said, "If Joseph and Mary were looking for a place in the hospitality to deliver our saviour, then let us stop the arguments about such places being unholy. "Rather, develop Christian hotels and guest houses which will be best examples in the provision of comfort and serenity outside their homes".

Rev Dr Frimpong-Manso noted that the provision of such facilities was another area of contribution to the socio-economic development of the country. "We are doing a vital socio-economic service in addition to the building of schools, hospitals and providing agriculture extension services."

He added that the facility would also be used as a tool of evangelism.

"We will also have the opportunity to spread the gospel with tracts, Bibles and good Christian music to people," he said. Rev Dr Frimpong-Manso expressed gratitude to the General Assembly of the PCG for the project and charged the contractors to complete it on schedule.
