Christians Mark Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Accra, April 12, GNA - Christians in Ghana have joined their counterparts throughout the world to celebrate Easter - the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead about 2,000 years ago - with church services, crusades and conventions. The Ghana Police Church, near the Licensing Office, Accra, celebrated the day on the theme: "Christ the Conqueror of Death is Risen."

Preaching the sermon, The Very Reverend Superintendent F.D. Twum-Baah, Chaplain-General, said the resurrection of Christ assured Christians of salvation and that when sin and death made Christians desperate they should look up to Christ for courage and strength to live.

He said Ghanaians are polarised and that Easter should be a time of reconciliation, adding that Christians should go out to spread the word about the resurrected Christ and the good news of salvation for humanity. Very Reverend Twum-Baah urged Christians to listen to the small voice of the Living Christ because he has always been close by since he said "my sheep hear my voice". The congregation prayed, sang and danced to praise God for His power of resurrection.
