Students discipline down - Arhin

Sunyani (B/A), April 8, GNA - Mr Kwaku Arhin, Dean of students, Sunyani Polytechnic, has identified lack of discipline among students in tertiary institutions as a major contributory factor for their inability to pass their final examinations. He said students have taken the freedom given them by school authorities to a level that makes them fail to realize why they are in school and need to study.

Mr Arhin was addressing more than 700 members of the Professional Marketing Association of Ghana Students of the Polytechnic at the association's annual week celebration at the weekend. Mr Arhin emphasised that success could not be achieved on a silver platter and urged the students to take their education serious to enable them to attain high and responsible positions in future. He deplored the negative behaviour of some students who engaged in alcoholism and smoking, saying such attitudes could ruin their lives. Mr Cosmos Amoako, Head of the Marketing Department of the Institution emphasized the lack of infrastructure to meet the current population of marketing students was a major challenge confronting the department.

He stressed that the vision for the Department was to provide the nation with qualified marketing professionals to meet the demand of today's market towards improving the country's economy.
