NDC youth vandalise Party's office

Akwatia (E/R), April 7, GNA - A large number of youth supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Akwatia Constituency on Tuesday vandalized the Party's offices at Akwatia to protest the nomination of Mr George Agyeman-Duah as Kwaebibirem District Chief Executive (DCE).

Singing war songs, the protesters smashed louvre windows and furniture, and burnt files and other stationery.

They argued that Mr Agyeman-Duah, an Accra-based lawyer, who hailed from Nkwantanang in the Kade Constituency, was virtually unknown in the district and that he had not contributed to the Party's activities.

The protesters also alleged that Mr Agyemang-Duah was not part of the three candidates interviewed for the position, indicating that he was chosen "from the back door".

Mr Theophilus Ampong, who described himself as the organizer of the youth wing of the NDC in the constituency, described the nomination of Mr Agyemang-Dua as "unfair" and "unacceptable".
