Ghana's delegation leaves for IPU conference

Accra, April 5, GNA - Ghana's 11-member parliamentary delegation, has left Accra for Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital, to attend the 12th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which opens tomorrow in the city.

The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Doe Adjaho, led the delegation that included the Majority Leader, Mr. Alban Bagbin, Minority leader, Mr. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu and the Clerk of Parliament, Mr Emmanuel Anyimadu as members.

The IPU assembly to be held under the theme, "Building Peace Democracy and Development in times of crisis" would be attended by over 1000 delegates, including 500 legislators, speakers of parliament and a number of special guests around the world.

Nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, climate change, sustainable development and freedom of expression among other issues were expected to be discussed at the meeting.
