RE: NPP Fires Dr Arthur Kennedy

March 2nd, 2009

DEAR SIR/MADAM

RE: NPP Fires Dr Arthur Kennedy

My attention has been drawn to the above in your paper, THE GHANAIAN TIMES and others to the effect that I have been fired as Communications Director of the NPP.

That publication is false and your paper and other media who have carried it have dishonoured the ethics of your profession.

I have never been the Communications Director of the NPP and cannot therefore be fired.

My position during the 2008 Campaign was that of Chairperson for the Communications Committee. With the end of the Campaign, the entire campaign committee was dissolved last month. Thus, nobody currently holds a campaign position.

The position of Director of Communications for the NPP is a constitutionally mandated position. The General Secretary, in consultation with other party leaders, was supposed to fill this position as far back as 2005. While the appointment of a Communication Director did not come early enough to help us in the 2008 campaign, it is a welcome development and I wish Mr. Kwarteng success in that position.

Unfortunately, my purported dismissal, in the light of my contribution to the campaign, perpetuates the false myth that our party does not value excellence. This is a time when our party needs its best minds and most dedicated servants to step forward and lead it into the future and such reports, deliberate or unintended, do not contribute to the process.

Finally, I thank the many admirers and sympathizers who have called to express support and to find out the truth. I assure them that my commitment to the party is undiminished and unwavering.
