Fast-track Ga Mantse Stool case - Ga Dsasetse

Accra, Feb. 5, GNA - The Ga Paramount Stool Dsase on Thursday called on the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs Judicial Committee to expedite the resolution of legal challenges to the occupancy the Ga Mantse Stool.

Addressing a press conference in Accra, Dsasetse Nii Yaote Oto-Ga II (Head of Dsase) said the resolution of the cases before the Regional Chieftaincy Tribunal would restore the dignity of the Ga State. He called on the National Security Coordinator to investigate as a matter of urgency the use of hired armed land guards and thugs in the Ga Mashie area to visit mayhem on the people.

Nii Oto-Ga II said as far as the Dsase was concerned the Ga Mantse Stool was still vacant, as the Dsase had not nominated, selected and enstooled a Ga Mantse as required by Ga culture and tradition. He said the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase was the only recognized traditional and customary-mandated body of kingmakers responsible for the nomination, selection and enstoolment of a Ga Mantse. Nii Oto-Ga II said the position was categorically supported by search reports from both the National and Regional Houses of Chiefs, indicating that there were no records of any recognized Ga Mantse in their registers.

He said the Dsase was serving a notice to the Ga Traditional Council to an effect that it would no longer tolerate their interference in the affairs of the Ga Paramount Stool, saying the Dsase was the only custodian of the Ga Stool. Nii Oto-Ga said "the Dsase had kept wise counsel, despite the blatant impunity and flouting of our cherished traditions by the Ga Traditional Council".

He said the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase still stood by the peace that had characterized the unique character of the people of the Ga State and would continue to avoid any form of confrontation, irrespective of the continuous provocations on the matter.
