Parliament begins vetting ministerial nominees Friday

The Appointments Committee of the Ghanaian Parliament is expected to vet on Friday thirty-five (35) persons nominated for various ministerial positions by the new Ghanaian leader John Evans Atta Mills.

Parliament sources told APA on Thursday that five persons are to be vetted each day and the vetting will continue on Saturday.

The nominees will take turns to answer questions from members of the Appointments Committee about themselves and the various sectors they would be managing.

Members of the public with information on any of the nominees are expected to make it available to the Committee before Friday.

Some of the nominees to appear first before the Committee are Ms. Akua Dansua a legislator and minister designated for Women’s Affairs, Mr. Joseph Yieleh Kyere minister designated for Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Cletus Avoka minister designated for Interior, and Mr. Alex Tettey Enyo minister designated for Education among others.

The vetting will be telecast live and is expected to end on 13 February.
