MTN denies rumours by Statesman

MTN, a telecommunication service operator has denied allegations of making donations to some political parties. Speaking at a news conference in Accra, the Corporate Services Executive, Ms. Mawuena Dumor said MTN is politically neutral and must not be drawn into the country’s politics. She therefore advised that all media personnel live up to their professional and ethical dictates.

Ms. Mawuena Dumor disclosed that MTN has not provided phone numbers of its customers to any political party to be used to solicit for votes. She said MTN respects the political affiliations of its subscribers and therefore urged them not to use the company’s logo and corporate symbols for partisan purpose.

According to the NPP-leaning Statesman newspaper, some leading members of the NDC had a secret meeting with officials of MTN and Stanbic Bank to deliberate on issues of financial packages from the banking premier Stanbic Bank and MTN (read).
