Voting on Sunday is not abnormal - Pastor

Accra, Dec. 7, GNA - Pastor Joseph Kwame Buachie, head pastor of Glorious Word Chapel, on Sunday said it was not abnormal for elections to be conducted on Sunday.

He said voting on a Sunday did not mean that God must be neglected since God had the power to appoint and reject leaders. "We need to consult him through prayer and his Word for divine direction," he said in a sermon on Election Day, which falls on Sunday. Pastor Buachie explained to the congregation that although they had just 10 hours to vote, the decision they made could go a long way to affect the country and generations to come.

He urged them to seek God's wisdom in their selection of a leader since God saw into the future.

Pastor Buachie stated that Ghanaians needed someone with a vision to build the nation and urged the congregation to cast their vote peacefully.

Some of the worshippers who spoke to the GNA said they were in church because they believed that it was important to seek the kingdom first before any other thing. "Anything could happen during the election but prayer can deliver all of us from trouble," one worshipper told GNA. The church service, which was well attended, started at 0700 hours and ended at 0845 hours to allow worshippers to cast their vote. Prayers were said for the nation and peace during and after the elections. 7 Dec. 08
