CIBA organizes capacity building seminar for members

Koforidua, Sept. 11, GNA - A two-day seminar aimed at linking businesses in the informal sector to the formal sector opened in Koforidua on Wednesday. It was organised by the Ghana Employers Association (GEA) and the Business Suppliers Programme Service with financial support from the Danish Development Agency. Some 40 executive members of the Indigenous Business Associations (CIBA) from different trade associations in the Eastern Region were participating. Speaking at the opening, National Executive Secretary of CIBA, Mr Ralph Ameyaw, said the informal sector formed between 80 to 85 per cent of Ghana's economic active population and therefore it was important that players in the sector were trained to enable them understand their role in the economy. Mr Victor Atta Amponsah of the GEA, said the Association had been involved in the process of gradually formalizing informal sector enterprises to enable them realize their potential in job creation. 11 Sept. 08
