GNP Postpones Congress

Kumasi, March 29, GNA- The Ghana National Party (GNP), has announced the postponement of its national congress with immediate effect.

The Party said the postponement of the event, which was scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2008, was necessitated by circumstances beyond the control of the leadership of the party.

A statement signed by Mr. Kobina Amo-Aidoo, interim national chairman of GNP and issued in Kumasi on Friday, said the leadership was expecting a package from abroad in respect of the congress but could not receive them.

It said the package which included important documents could not be procured due to some reasons, thereby necessitating the postponement of the congress.

The statement called on supporters of the party to exercise restraint whilst the leadership fix an appropriate date for the congress upon receiving the documents and package.
