NDC calls for voters' register

Techiman (B/A), March 19, GNA - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the Electoral Commission to make copies of the voters' register available to all registered political parties to help erase any doubts about its authenticity during the December general election.

In a statement issued at the close of its first regional chairmen's conference at the weekend, John Owusu Agyemang, Brong-Ahafo Regional Chairman and Dr. John Abu, Western Regional Chairman, urged the EC to take steps to clean the register to ensure no party could raise any doubts during general election. The statement appealed to the EC to thoroughly investigate the alleged bloated register in the Ashanti Region as well as the one currently in the hands of the NDC and the Great Consolidated People Party.

The Regional Chairmen however decried the short notice given for the replacement of lost identification cards but resolved to move into the constituencies to intensify voter education. They expressed support for the trainer of trainers workshops started by the party at branch constituencies and regional levels.
