Govt to waive import tax on mobile devices

The government is reportedly set to waive taxes on imports of mobile devices in an effort aimed at promoting universal access to telecoms services in the country.

The move is expected to pave the way for a ‘talk tax’ on voice calls which is currently being debated in parliament.
