SoNA congratulates Ghanaians on independence

Accra, March 5, GNA - The Society for National Affairs, (SoNA) a civil society organisation, on Wednesday congratulated Ghanaians on the 51st Independence anniversary celebration and asked the citizens to continue to build on the legacy of the founding fathers to propel the country forward.

A statement signed by Mr Anane Agyei-Kodie, Executive Director and Mr Ernest Kwarteng, Secretary of SoNA respectively, also entreated the youth to be nationalistic and aspire to the level of patriotism shown by the forbearers of the land.

The statement urged Ghanaians to continue to show the same spirit of unity and pride exhibited during the 26th African Cup of Nations tournament, especially during Election 2008 in December. Meanwhile, the Society also commented on the strike by rail workers saying, "Like every Ghanaian, their plight must be of great concern to the entire citizenry".

The statement appealed to the workers to return to post and called on the sector Minister to meet the leadership of the National Labour Commission to resolve the issue.
