Ghana coach left unconvinced

Accra, Jan 25, GNA - Ghana's coach, Claude Le Roy has been left unconvinced by the Black Stars performance against the Brave Warriors of Namibia.

Ghana rode on a 40th minute strike by Junior Agogo to grab three points and the Frenchman believes a lot of work must be done on the team chasing a fifth Nations Cup glory at the continental party. Le Roy told the media 24 hours after the Stars abysmal display: "I was disappointed by our performance and results."

The Coach, however, believes there are loads of positives to draw from the game, which the Black Stars needed to win to keep their dream of winning the trophy alive.

"Many teams will like to be in our position where we have six points from two games and stand a great chance of progressing into the next stage of the competition."

He said he was surprised at the reaction of the supporters, who thronged the 40,000-seater arena.

"We are yet to feel that we are playing at home. I am very surprised by the attitude of the supporters because so soon, it looks like everyone has forgotten that we have won twice in two games."

Le Roy, who would miss the services of Laryea Kingston in the next game against Morocco on Monday, insisted that he had carved out an alternative measure capable of keeping the team's fluidity intact ahead of the duel.

"It is with a heavy heart that I accept that we will be without Laryea. It is important that we find a solution before Monday."

The Coach said he recognized the need to defeat Morocco to keep their destiny in their hands. "Morocco will be tough because they have a fine team but you will see warriors on the pitch on Monday." Ghana is atop Group A with six points and requires only a point to advance to the last eight of Africa's plum competition for her nations. 25 Jan. 08
