Akufo-Addo ont a qualified lawyer -Gen. Mosquito

JOHNSON ASIEDU Nketia, popularly called General Mosquito, National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, has confirmed the seemingly heightened uneasiness that has engulfed the NDC since the election of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the upcoming polls.

Exhibiting a clear sense of frustration on Hello FM, a Kumasi-based radio station on Wednesday, the NDC scribe rained barrage of insults on Nana Akufo-Addo with no provocation.

The radio station had called Mr. Nketia in his capacity as the general secretary of the country's biggest opposition party to discuss how the door-to-door campaign of their flagbearer, Prof. Atta Mills was faring.

Instead of General Mosquito sticking to the subject, he broke loose and branded Nana Akufo-Addo as a liar who has deceived the whole nation into believing that he was a legal luminary.

According to him, Nana Akufo-Addo does not possess any certificate that signifies that he is a well qualified legal practitioner.

The general secretary, who arrogantly refused to heed the moderator?s call to stick to the subject of discussion, categorically stated that he knows for a fact that the former Minister of Foreign Affairs does not have in his possession either LLB or LLM, which identifies a person as first or second degree law holder respectively.

In the view of the general secretary, no one could proclaim that he/she was a qualified lawyer without having the ability to tender in the aforementioned certificates as evidence.

?I'm telling you that Nana Akufo-Addo cannot provide any certificate to qualify himself as a member of the legal fraternity,? he argued.

Mr. Nketia emphasized that Prof Atta Mills, the NDC flagbearer for the December 7 general elections, was far ahead of Nana Akufo-Addo in both academic and private/public life achievements.

"I get irritated and offended when I hear uninformed people compare Nana Akufo-Addo, a self proclaimed lawyer to Prof Mills, a professor of law.?

He indicated that Prof Mills, who is a well qualified legal practitioner, could at any point in time tender in certificates as evidence of his academic achievements.

The NDC general secretary underscored that none of his party members were afraid of such a person.

When it became evident that Mr. Nketia was not ready to let civility guard his comments, the moderator disengaged him from the line and consequently apologized to the listening public for the inconvenience caused.

Moments after the unfortunate development, scores of text messages poured in to condemn the unbecoming attitude of the general secretary, which some described as tantamount to hooliganism.

The ?texters? disagreed with General Mosquito's claim that Nana Akufo-Addo was not a qualified lawyer.

They asked how come a person with no qualification in law was able to go through vetting, and be made the Attorney General and Minister of Justice during the first term of President Kufuor's administration.
