Guinness GJA to host local and foreign journalists

Accra, Jan. 24, GNA - Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited on Thursday presented a cheque for GH 2,000 cedis and assorted drinks to the Ghana Journalists Association to host both local and international journalists covering the Ghana 2008 football tournament to a press soiree. It is estimated that about 2,000 journalists are covering the tournament which began on January 20, 2008 and ends on February 10, 2008.

Mrs Pamela Djamson-Tettey, Corporate Relations Director who made the presentation congratulated the GJA for hosting many events both local and international and especially the upcoming one. She said Guinness was poised to achieve success and make its products popular through strong relations with stakeholders both in the media and the business industry. Mrs Djamson-Tettey noted that the company had over the years provided many development opportunities to communities as part of the corporate responsibility and added that about 150,000 people were provided with potable water last year.

Mr Ransford Tetteh, President of the GJA who received the cheque said the Association considered the tournament as an opportunity to be used by both local and foreign media to interact and share ideas and experiences. He said the soiree slated for February 1, 2008 would not only provide the media a chance to evaluate coverage so far but also to firmly establish the needed contacts.
