Quality hotels at affordable rates in Kwahu

Nkawkaw (E/R), Jan. 17, GNA-The Kwahu South District Chief Executive, Nana Kofi Onwona Asante, on Thursday assured foreign visitors and soccer fans of the CAN 2008 tournament, especially those who would be watching the matches in Kumasi and Accra of good hotel facilities at affordable rates in the Kwahu area.

He has therefore appealed to officials of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) in-charge of accommodation to direct some of the foreign dignitaries and soccer fans to the tournament to rent hotels in the Kwahu area.

Nana Asante was speaking at an interaction with media personnel in the Eastern Region at Nkawkaw to expose them to the hotels, restaurants and other facilities available in the hospitality industry in the Kwahu area.

Among the facilities visited by the media personnel include KATSON Hotel, Awo Gyaa Hotel and WAGS Hotel all at Kwahu Obomeng, Top Hotel and BOB-Limus at Abetifi, MODAK Royal Hotel at Pepease, ROJO Hotel and ECOMOG Restaurant and Hotel at Nkawkaw. Nana Asante said it takes only two hours to travel from the Kwahu area to Kumasi and three hours to travel to Accra at an average speed and therefore the soccer fans to the 2008 tournament could lodge in the Kwahu area and easily travel to Accra or Kumasi to watch the matches and drive back.

He said some of the hotels in the area have suits for the high class and could provide rooms for over 250 guests and also provide facilities for large conferences.

Nana Asante said apart from the Easter festivities in the Kwahu area, the District Assembly in collaboration with those in the hospitality industry would be organizing a regatta or boat racing among the various communities along the Volta Lake and the finals would be organized on July 1, this year on the Volta Lake at Adawso. He explained that, the tourism sector is an area, which could help generate a lot of employment for the youth in the Kwahu area and could also help the District Assemblies to increase their revenue hence the collaboration of the Assembly with the private sector in the tourism industry to promote the industry.
