Police have no breath detector

On Thursday, the 10th of January, 2008, a Benz bus traveling from Ho to Accra collided with a brand new Toyota pickup belonging to the National Health Insurance Scheme at Sokode Junction mangling the front area of the brand new pickup beyond recognition.

The driver of the Benz bus was visibly drunk and could be seen staggering as he came out of the car. But unfortunately when the police arrived to our utmost disappointment, they had no breath detector to take the alcohol level of the driver who could still be seen throwing his weight all over the place.

I am appealing to the IGP to facilitate the immediate purchase of alcohol detector for the Regional Police in Ho to help determine alcohol level of drivers as promptly as possible in order to determine case expeditiously.
