BOPP appeals to landowners

Benso (W/R), Dec 27, GNA - Management of Benso Oil Palm Plantations (BOPP) has appealed to landowners in the Wassa Mpohor East District to offer them for the development of out-grower projects to improve the raw material supply base of BOPP.

Mr Neneyo Mate-Korle, Managing Director of BOPP, made the appeal at the company's Annual Durbar and Awards Day held at Benso on Saturday. He said besides the smallholder farms, the company contributed to the health care needs of the communities by opening up the use of BOPP's clinic.

Mr Mate-Korle expressed regret that three years ago the elders of Adum Banso offered 2,000 hectares of land for an out grower project but due to current chieftaincy issues in the area the company was unable to start the project. He appealed to all factions to iron out their differences to enable the project to take off.

Mr Mate-Korle said the company made a profit after tax of 6.5 billion cedis against the previous year of 4.9 billion cedis representing 32 per cent growth. On the Company's future plans, he said the company had plans to acquire 1,300 KVA turbine and boiler to make it self reliant in energy.
