I will not do politics of ethnicity - Nduom

Cape Coast, Dec. 26, GNA- Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, the flagbearer of the Convention People's Party (CPP) on Wednesday reiterated his pledge not to engage in ethnic or "dirty politics" that would bring disgrace to the CPP and the nation at large.

He said the CPP has turned a new leaf and that he would do everything possible to rally all its members in a united front to market the party vigorously to enable it win next year's elections.

Dr. Nduom said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Oguaa traditional area, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II at his palace in Cape Coast, to announce his election as the flagbearer and also to seek the Omanhene's blessings to enable him realize his dream of becoming the next President of Ghana.

He further pledged that his party would do clean campaigns devoid of insults and abusive language and appealed for the necessary support to enable the party to win the next year's election.

Dr. Nduom said the National Democratic Party, (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) had played their various parts in the nation's democracy and stressed that the time has come for Ghanaians to give the CPP the chance to contribute its quota.

Osabarima Atta appreciated Dr. Nduom's visit and said it showed that the CPP respected tradition and assured him of his support. He told him that the battle has just began and advised members of the party to come together as a unified body and evolve strategic plans that would enable it to win next year's election.

He also commended Dr. Nduom and his campaign team for not engaging in dirt politics and urged him to educate his supporters not to engage in politics of insults and abusive language, rather they should campaign in a way that would bring issues to the fore rather than attacking personalities.

"If you are able to do this Ghanaian would see you to be a new breed of people who are into clean politics and would massively vote for the party," he advised.

Dr Nduom who also called on the Zongo Chief, Alhaji Iddi Makama, stressed that he would closely work with the Zongo communities and also asked for his support and prayer.

Among the members who accompanied him were his wife Mrs Yvonne Nduom, the National Chairman, Mr. Ladi Nylander and his four children.
