Two years jail for stealing street light bulb

Akyem Swedru (E/R), Dec. 24, GNA - A circuit court at Akyem Swedru on Friday jailed Amponsah Obed, a 20-year-old unemployed two years for stealing a street light bulb value at GHC250.00.

Police Chief Inspector Alice Appiakorang, told the court presided over by Mr Edward Kwame Bosompem Apenkwah that the following a complaint by the assembly member for Akyem Anamase in the Birim South District that one of the street light bulbs given to the community by the District Assembly was missing.

He said both the assembly member and the Unit Committee members and other people set out to look for it.

While searching was going on, a witness informed the complainant that he found the bulb in the convict's roof ceiling. A report was made to the Akyem Manso police and the bulb was retrieved and Obed was later arrested.
