NPP delegates urged to vote for Akufo-Addo

Sunyani (B/A), Dec. 21, GNA- Delegates for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) congress to be held tomorrow to elect a flag bearer, have been urged to consider the ideology and philosophy of the party and vote massively for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to lead the party to ensure an overwhelming victory for NPP in 2008 Elections.
Mr. Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, Brong-Ahafo Regional Coordinator of Nana Akufo-Addo's campaign team, gave the advice in Sunyani on Thursday. He was addressing party supporters and sympathizers at a rally after they had gone on a procession through the principal streets of Sunyani, the regional capital to demonstrate their support for the aspirant.
The supporters, clad in the colours of the party held placards with inscriptions some of which read: "Vote for number 10, team captain", "We will take the money and vote our conscience", "Nana can motivate foot soldiers", "Don't vote for post-dated cheques", among others, amidst dancing to brass band music.
Mr. Asomah-Cheremeh underscored the importance for the delegates to follow the trend of the party and vote for Nana Akufo-Addo in order not to put the party into factions.
The Regional Coordinator expressed optimism that Nana Akufo-Addo would poll 60 percent of the valid votes.
Mr. Apraku Tuffour, spokesman of the team said the 17 aspirants contesting for the presidency indicated that the NPP cherished internal democracy.
He urged the delegates and the aspirants to rally solidly behind any candidate who would be given the nod to lead the party. Mr. Tuffour appealed to the delegates not to be deceived by money and rather elect Nana Akufo-Addo, who had gained international exposure.
