NPP Chairmen Descend On Tain MP

Space FM, Sunyani - The Brong- Ahafo Regional Chairmen Association of the ruling New Patriotic party (NPP), has vowed to deal drastically with any body being a sympathizer or an executive, who will foment confusion that may affect the fortunes of the party during both the delegates conference and the 2008 general elections.

The Chairman of the Chairmen Association, Mr. Peter Adom, on behalf to the Association disclosed this in an exclusive interview with our News Editor, Francis Owusu-Ansah after an executive meeting in Sunyani.

The Association strongly accused Hon Joe Danquah, Member of Parliament for Tain Constituency of conducts that are likely to affect the party negatively if proper measures are not instituted.

They alleged that Joe Danquah who has lately been a regular Morning Show panel member on Sunyani based Space FM, is using the opportunity to defame the hard working Brong-Aahfo Regional Minister, Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah and the association.

They denied the assertion by Joe Danquah, to effect that Hon. Baffour Awuah met the Chairmen Association and dictated to them what they should do when they go for congress right after aspirant Akuffo Addo had met them and left.

According to them, “this statement made by an NPP elected MP is malicious, unfounded, and insulting because the MP is trying to tell us that we the Chairmen and the Party executives can’t decide for ourselves”.

They intimated that Joe Danquah is a disgrace to the party and that he should be brought to book. “We are writing a letter to the national head quarters to that effect, we will report his misconduct to the party quarters”.

The Association pointed out that the MP thinks he wis supporting Akuffo Addo but he is really destroying the fortunes of the said candidate as well. They maintained that they would vote for a winsome leader who would be able to iron out differences in the party

They said the Association would not to be worried about "negatives" that somebody like Joe Danquah is perpetrating on radio that seek to downplay the achievements of the NPP.

The Association stressed that NPP would have a landslide victory in the 2008 elections if it works hard to justify the good policies and programmes it has pursued since assuming office six years ago.

The Chairmen advised the youth, women's groups, supporters and rank and file of the party to adopt effective campaign strategies to enable the NPP win the 2008 elections.

They said the NPP in its almost seven-year rule has ensured rule of law, stability, good governance and development of the country. The Chairmen stressed the need for the youth and women groups to educate the people about the achievements of the party to win more souls for the NPP.

They noted that the party would not discriminate against any of its flag bearers and expressed the hope that there would be transparency in choosing the leader for the party at the December 22 congress.

"The biggest mistake Ghanaians will make is to return the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to power", they maintained.

They said the government had done a lot to improve all sectors of the economy and appealed to Ghanaians to appreciate what the government had done and support it in all its activities.

Meanwhile, the regional minister has denied meeting the chairman and wondered if it would be criminal for him as the region's political head to meet his party chairmen.

"Sometimes we have to dismiss the bluff of certain personlities who seek to forment troubles even for themselves", he told Space FM.
