"True Journalists" condem support for Alan "Cash"

A group of journalists in the Ashanti Region have condemned the decision by some of their colleagues who have publicly declared their preference for Allan kyeremateng, one of the presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The group calling themselves True Journalists of Kumasi disassociated themselves from the declaration of support for Mr Kyerematen by the so-called ‘Media Friends of Allan led by Mr Boakye kwakwa the Former Editor of ‘Kumasi Mail’ saying that as professionals they will not compromise their neutrality.

The Chairman of the group Mr Clement Cheriwale Kegere said the action of Mr Boakye Kwakwa and the thirty faceless journalists has not only dented the image of journalists in Kumasi but has also exposed them to public ridicule.

The group has challenged Mr Kwakwa to name the other members of the group.

Mr Kegere stated that as journalists it is incumbent on them to be impartial and fair to all at all times.

They questioned why Mr. Kwakwa and his group did not declare support for any of the presidential candidates of the other political parties?

They have therefore called on the Ghana Journalists Association to take the matter up.

In a related development the Acting Chairman of the Ashanti branch of the GJA NanaYaw Osei has condemned the action of the group saying they have put their credibility as journalists on the line. He noted that the group can not be taken serious.
