29-year-old man defiles three-year-old girl

Kumasi, Nov 12, GNA- A 29-year-old unemployed man has been remanded into prison custody by a Kumasi Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a three-year-old girl.

The accused, Nathaniel Kwesi Arhin pleaded not guilty to the charge and would re-appear on December 4. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour-Kyei told the court presided over by Madam Wilhemina Hammond, that the victim lives with her mother and grandmother, who is a witness in the case, at Kenyase near Mamponteng in the Kwabre District of Ashanti. She stated that on October 1, this year, the complainant left the victim in the care of her grandmother and travelled to Kumasi. Chief Inspector Baffour-Kyei said an hour later the grandmother in the company of another boy and the victim went to the farm. She said at about 1500 hours, the grandmother left the children behind to another farm to pick some vegetables and upon her arrival spotted Arhin coming from the direction of where she left the victim. The prosecutor said no sooner had the grandmother gotten to where the victim was than she realized to her dismay that the latter had been defiled.

Chief Inspector Baffour-Kyei said a report was made to the police who arrested Arhin and after investigations charged him with the offence.
