Ghanaians are Wise and Clever - NPP

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Ohene Ntow has said there is no political party that can convince right thinking people of Ghana to reject the NPP in the 2008 parliamentary and presidential elections.

He said Ghanaians know the level of deceit and fake political agenda that some political parties exhibited when they ruled the country.

In an interview with ADM, he said Ghanaians are very wise and clever and always know what is good for them. No political party can decide for Ghanaians when it comes to elections and the minds of Ghanaians can never be underrated by any political party, he said.

He called on Ghanaians to reject political parties whose propaganda is designed to attract public attention to fulfill their selfish interests. "Our political rivals know it would be difficult for them to compete with the NPP in the 2008 elections; that is why they are saying all manner of things to paint the party black", he said.

"The NPP" Nana Ohene Ntow said, "would not look on unconcerned while other political parties propagate falsehoods to the detriment of the people. It is totally unacceptable".

He said the NPP has established a transparent and decent political administration which provides basic social services to the people. "We will continue to rejuvenate the potentials we have as a country and develop its resources to enhance the wellbeing of the people in the country", he said.

He challenged those political parties which he said are trying to throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians concerning infrastructural development in the country and good policy implementation. They should compare the NPP's record, since it came to power in 2001 with what other political parties did when they ruled the country.

He said some of the good policies that the NPP implemented brought about the National Health Insurance Scheme and the Capitation Grant and now Ghanaians are benefiting from them. "What every Ghanaians must do is to just register and obtain a card which would qualify him or her to enjoy the benefits", he said.

Nana Ohene Ntow said, "It may be true that it takes sometime before one could obtain an NHIS card but it does not take away the fact the NHIS has come to give relief to the poor who cannot afford to pay hospital bills" . There is no institution that does not face problems when bringing new policies into place.
