National Service Personnel would undergo military training-Hackman

Oyoko, Oct 10, GNA- Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, an aspirant flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), last Tuesday said military training would be a component of the National Service Scheme, if elected. This he explained would inculcate discipline and patriotism of the highest level in the youth. Speaking at the launching of his Presidential campaign at Oyoko near Koforidua, Mr Owusu-Agyemang assured members of the NPP that when given the nod, he would further strengthen the restoration of Ghana's dignified status.

"My performance as a Minister of state, coupled with my vast experience in International Relations shows that I would deliver when given the chance.

The aspirant, who was the former Minister of Foreign affairs, Interior and Water Resources, Works and Housing, said during his leadership, about 4,000 housing units, under the affordable housing projects, had been completed.

The Eastern Regional Chairman of the party, Mr Yaw Gyekye-Amoabeng said, the NPP was poised to maintain power to continue with the good works.

He told members of the party to put aside all their differences to ensure victory in the 2008 elections. By 1000 hours, hundreds of party supporters from all parts of the country had already gathered at the Hackman Social Centre at Oyoko amidst brass band music, waiting for the commencement of the programme. Some of the party functionaries at the launching included Mr Thomas Broni, former Deputy Minister for the Interior, Mr Kingston Kissi, MP for Akwatia, Mr James Appietu-Ankrah, MP for Lower West Akyem, Mr Okerchiri Adusah, MP for Nkawkaw, Mr Kwadwo Adjei-Addo, MP for Fanteakwa and Mr Emmanuel Dei-Tumi, Chief Executive of Foundation for Future Leaders.
