Man Guns Down Wife, Commits Suicide

A 40-year old man opened fire on his wife killing her instantly in a farm in the Bosumtwi-Atwima-Kwahwoma district of Ashanti. Kojo Boateng after shooting the wife, Paulina Frimpomaa 35, in the throat also shot himself in the chest. The incident took place at Jachie at 8.30 am.

Briefing the Times here, yesterday, Inspector Yusif-Mohammed Tanko of the Ashanti Regional Police Public Unit, said there had been some misunderstanding between the couple who had three children. As a result, Frimpomaa was said to have moved from the marital home to live somewhere in the town.

In the early hours of yesterday, he said Frimpomaa and a friend, Sarah did some construction work in the town after which Frimpomaa asked Sarah to accompany her to the farms to harvest some food crops.

While Frimpomaa was uprooting some cassava, at a distance, Sarah heard a gunshot, she went close and saw Frimpongmaa in a pool of blood.

Sarah, Mr. Inspector Tanko said, run to the town and informed Frimpomaa’s relatives. By the time she and others returned to the farm, Boateng was found lying dead a few metres away from the wife. Both bodies have been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
