Nduom opens campaign office

Accra, Sept. 19, GNA - Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, an aspiring flag bearer of the Convention People's Party (CPP) Wednesday said "whatever is in Ghana should remain in Ghana and be shared equally among all Ghanaians." "We should not sit down and watch whilst our industries collapse, nor should we be awarding contracts to foreign countries at the expense of our technocrats and our people.

"If there is any good in Ghana it should be for Ghanaians......And it is the new CPP that would ensure that this happens," Dr. Nduom said when opening his campaign office in Accra.

The office, which is situated at the premises of the "Capital Mall" at Avenor Junction on the Circle-Achimota Road will be manned by a 12-man staff including the Campaign Chairman, a secretary, researchers and analyst and it is equipped with computers, a library and a network system that is to be linked to similar offices in the regions for easy data and information transfer.

Flanked by such party notables like General Emmanuel Erskine and Professor George Hagan, Dr Nduom asserted that the CPP had passed through the mill and was refined to the stage "where we can win power and better the lot of Ghanaians".

"Ghanaians should know that a vote for the CPP is a vote in the right direction.

" The CPP is the political entity of the moment. And we will ensure that we unite the people and fight to end poverty", he said. Dr Nduom called for tolerance during the campaigning season, saying, "we should be talking about what would better the lot of our people and not what would divide us as a people".

"I want to champion a politics of ideas, not a politics of blame. Mr Rawlings did what he could do for the nation so is Mr John Kufuor doing his best. But when he leaves I want to be the man to continue the job of building this nation.

"Leading a country is not an easy road for anyone. What we need is someone with experience, some one who can handle issues expertly and expediently..... My experiences have given me this attributes and I am the person to lead this country", he said.

Gen. Erskine called on all true Nkrumaist to "put what divides us away and strengthen what unites us to make the CPP the one-true united party".

He asked party faithful not to think that Dr. Nduom let the CPP down when he accepted to serve in the New Patriotic Party administration, but it should be remembered that he was called to serve the country and not the NPP.

Mr Felix Amoah, the "Nduom for President 2008" Campaign Chairman said the biggest task facing the CPP was reorganisation. "But the Nduom campaign would leave no stone unturned to make the CPP a viable entity", he said.
