President of Swiss Confederation leaves

Accra, July 11, GNA - Mrs Micheline Calmy-rey, President of the Swiss Confederation, left Accra on Wednesday after a two-day visit during which she met with her host, President John Agyekum Kufuor.

She visited the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping and Training Centre in Accra and also met with members of the financial sector and held talks with the Swiss business community.

Before she departed, Mrs Calmy-rey was escorted to the saluting dais by President Kufuor where the national anthems of the two countries were played as a 21-gun salute boomed.

A guard of honour was mounted by three officers and 96 men from the First Battalion of Infantry under the command of Captain Jacob Sedzro with the Ghana Armed Forces Central Band in attendance.

At the Airport to see her off were President Kufuor, Ministers of State, and Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Chief of the Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. J.B Danquah and the Deputy IGP, Mrs Elizabeth Mills-Robertson.
