Businessman jailed 10 years for defiling 12-year-old girl

Juaso (Ash), June 25, GNA- The Juaso Circuit Court presided over by Mr Jacob Boon has sentenced a 46-year-old businessman to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 12-year-old girl at New Koforidua near Duampopo.

Bobie Ansah pleaded guilty to the charge.

Police Chief Inspector Joseph Damanka told the court that the accused lived in the same house with the victim and her mother. He said on May 13 this year when the mother of the girl had left for church, Ansah lured the victim into a toilet room and forcibly had sex with her after which he cautioned her not to tell anyone. The prosecution said the victim therefore kept the ordeal to herself until May 19 when she complained of headache and abdominal pains.

Chief Inspector Damanka said the mother after carefully examining the victim discovered a white discharge from her private part and after persistent interrogation the girl revealed her ordeal to the mother who reported the case to the police.

A police medical form issued to the victim to attend hospital confirmed the act and the accused was arrested and charged.
