Agricultural development Bank support farmers

Gomoa Ekwamkrom (C/R), June 15, GNA - The Agona Swedru branch of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) has provided 76 million cedis credit package to 40 members of Ekwamkrom zonal branch of Action on African Women Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO). The credit package was provided under the bank's Young Farmers Programme.

The beneficiaries are maize and vegetables farmers and are expected to pay back the loan in 12 months.

Mr. Otchere expressed gratitude to the bank for the support and appealed to other banks, Micro Financing and Small Loan Centre (MASLOC) and other donor agencies to help to the NGO to reduce poverty in its catchment area.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the money strictly for the purpose it was provided and to pay back in time to win the confidence and the trust of the bank.

The executive director said he was sourcing funds from other banks and donor agencies and urged members who were not covered not to get discouraged but to wait patiently for their turn. 15 June 07
