Foreign Minister To Attend Eu-Au Ministerial Troika

In his capacity as the Chairman of the Executive Council of the African Union the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Nana Akufo-Addo, MP, will depart Accra to Brussels on Sunday, May 13, 2007 to attend an EU-AU Ministerial troika meeting.

The meeting which will also be attended by the High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU, Javier Solana, will discuss and adopt the outline for the joint EU-Africa Strategy. This outline will form the basis of the joint strategy that should be adopted at the later EU-Africa Summit.

The meeting has the following as the agenda;

• EU/Africa dialogue,

• Peace and Security,

• Governance and Human Rights,

• Regional Integration and Trade

• other key development issues like migration and energy.

The Foreign Minister who will be accompanied by officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is due back to Accra on Wednesday, 16th May, 2007. Issued by:
