Zoomlion to venture into recycling and land reclamation

Accra, March 27, GNA - Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a private waste management company, would soon enter into recycling and land reclamation as a way of ensuring proper waste disposal and land management. Mr Oscar Provencal, Head of Public Relations and Marketing of the Company, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra on Tuesday, said the projects, which would commence by the end of the year, would look at proper land filling, site management, production of plastic and rubber products.

He said negotiations were far advanced between the Accra Metropolitan Assembly and the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment for the Company to start the projects. Mr Provencal said the Company, which had a workforce of more than 4,000 was working in several districts and metropolitan area. He cautioned workers against the use of the Company's property for personal gains. "The Company will not tolerate any act of indiscipline from any worker."

He said the Company had of late had difficulty in paying salaries of workers since postings from the National Youth Employment Secretariat were not always done in consultation with the Company. Mr Provencal, therefore, called on the Secretariat to ensure that posting of personnel to the Company was always done formally. He said the Company would continue to work with Government, the private sector and individuals to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
