NDC mourns Hawa

Accra, March 22, GNA - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Thursday expressed its heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Madam Hawa Yakubu and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) fraternity. A statement signed by its Deputy General Secretary Baba Jamal said the National Executive Committee of the NDC had received with shock the news of the sudden death of Madam Hawa Yakubu, the illustrious daughter of Ghana.

"The anguish that fell on National Executive members, who were holding a meeting at the time of her death was announced, is a clear manifestation that the NDC leadership held the late Hawa Yakubu in high esteem."

The NDC said while the pain of her loss would take a long time to heal, it was the party's belief that her immediate family, her constituents and the NPP within which she devoted her life and energies, would take consolation in the fact that Madam Hawa had left giant footprints in the political landscape of Ghana.

The NDC also extended its condolences to the chiefs and people of the Upper East Region who gave Ghana such a vibrant, affable and kind personality.

Madam Yakubu died on Tuesday in a London hospital.
