Independence Day Match past at Tarkwa

Tarkwa, March 7, GNA - Mr Emmanuel Kwesi Ayensu, the Wassa West District Chief Executive, took the salute at Tarkwa Na Aboso Park at a parade to mark the 50th independence anniversary.

In all 25 primary and junior secondary schools, five second cycle schools, Ghana Beauticians' and Hair Dressers' Association, (GHABA) market women, electricians, bakers, market women and masquerades took part in the match past.

The rest were Woodworkers Association, Ghana National Association of Teachers Ladies Association (GNATLAS), Police and Prison officer's wives, Police and Prisons officers.

Three schools: Hooper Memorial JSS Tarkwa, Huni-Valley D/A JSS and Nana Amoakwa, Model JSS, Damang in the Wassa West District who scored 100 percent at their first attempt at Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in 2006 were awarded prizes.

Again, schools that excelled in the 2006 BECE results in the district were also awarded.

The schools included Golden Star, Bogoso, Dadwen School complex, Wassa Nsuta, Purity JSS, Bogoso, Gold Fields Complex, Tarkwa and Gold Fields JSS, Prestea.

Mr Ayensu read the President's address and advised young people to resolve to stay at home and use their energies and enthusiasm to serve Africa.
